BBC Radiophonic Workshop / Sonic Boom

Turntable Cafe pays tribute to the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, whose most familiar contribution to the world was the Dr Who theme, arguably the earliest and most significant piece of British electronica. But with contributors like Delia Derbyshire and Glynis Jones, it was also hugely influential on generations of musicians, from the Pet Shop Boys to Aphex Twin and Four Tet. Sonic Boom - formerly of Spacemen 3 and the last person to work with Delia Derbyshire before she died in 2001 - performs live; there is a selection of archive footage on the workshop, and Julian House, from the graphic design company Intro provides images and spins records. Turntable Cafe takes place in the Purcell Room and The Front Room at the Queen Elizabeth Hall.

The summer residency at The Push Bar continues at full pace. We shall be setting up stall in the darkness of the basement again this coming Friday 17th June.

This month's featured band is PART OF THE FAMILY, giving us an exclusive performance and a free 4 track CD for the first 25 people through the door, gawd bless ‘em. As usual, Bob & Jaxon will attempt to fill in the gaps by playing small round pieces of black plastic at loud volume for your delight. Get there early - this one's going to be busy.

It lasts from 8pm – 1am, costs £5 to get in, there’s cheap booze until 11pm and It’s in the heart of Soho (The Push Bar, 93 Dean Street, W1). What more could you ask for? See you down there...

We've decided to christen the year in an uncharacteristic fit of
Charity. SATURDAY 2nd APRIL at SMITHYS, KINGS CROSS with all
proceeds going to Help the Hospices, London Flora Marathon Charity
of the Year. Sucks To DJs will be performing a marathon 5 hour
session behind the decks playing our own particular brand of
whatever the hell tickles our fancy at the time.

Moog - ICA

The ICA and Plexifilm present MOOG, a new documentary about Robert Moog, inventor of the modern synthesizer, and pioneer of the electronic music scene as we know it today. MOOG is a portrait of a legendary figure in music and technology and his ideas about creativity, design, interactivity and spirituality, as well as his collaborations with musicians over the years. Directed by Hans Fjellestad, the film features a host of musical talents inspired and influenced by the Moog synthesizer, including Keith Emerson, Sun Ra, Walter Sear, Jean-Jacques Perrey & Luke Vibert, Rick Wakeman, DJ Spooky, Herb Deutsch, Bernie Worrell, Mix Master Mike and more. Many of this eclectic mix of performers (from Stereolab to The Album Leaf, Tortoise and Money Mark) also collaborated on the original soundtrack to the film, recently released by Hollywood Records.

Crash Convention - Rhythm Factory

On Thursday November fourth, Crash Convention will be supporting Domino Bones, a band formed by Bez from Happy Mondays, I have no idea what they are like, but either way I am looking forward to playing with them.

Also playing are Moco, sure you know about them already. So if you fancy coming along, please do, sgonna be a great party I prommise.

Bilo bamboozles the defence and breaksthrough, Bricklane is put into the back of the stand and we'red heading for Clerkenwell/ Amwell Village. at 3.00pm . Mount Pleasant sorting office on Roseberry Avenue, 5 minutes walk Filthy Macnasties/ Kings cross.
opposite the post office on the Mount Pleasant junction, there are four red telephone boxes. They will all ring at 3.04. a girl in a hat will issue ticket invitations/ Haribo Bear donations.
£10 entry including lunch and seistaccomodation, Haribo Bears, drug counciling and a free ride to the monarch for those with tickets later on. Also, a playback of the new album 'The Libertines' including tracks that didn't make the final mix.
